Just before noon on Thursday a Eastside Waste garbage truck was northbound on Daw Collins Road just south of Morgan Cemetery. The female driver and male passenger were enroute to the landfill when the truck went off the right shoulder. THe driver overcorrected causing the truck to veer across the southbound lanes, cross the ditch and struck a large tree both uprooting it and snapping it off. A witness behind the crash called 911. Within minutes East Montgomery County and North Montgomery County Fire were on the scene. Both male and female who were not wearing seatbelts were ejected out of the passenger side of the truck. One victim was trapped under the truck prompting the Fire Department to put in a call for the first heavy duty wrecker on the scene. MCHD arrived on the scene and pronounced both victims deceased. Several heavy duty wreckers including Saddle Creek, Adamicks, and Milstead. THe Milstead Heavy Duty wrecker was used to lift the truck from the victim. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn was called to the scene for the inquest and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victims to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. Once DPS finished the preliminary investigation , Montgomery County Precinct 4 Commissioners workers removed the downed tree from the roadway. Milstead Heavy Duty was then able to hook to the truck and with the rotator , sling it to the road to be loaded on a flatbed. The road reopened after 5pm.
