Just after 7 pm Splendora Police were dispatched to a major accident on US 59 northbound at Ipes Road. As the units were enroute they learned the Hispanic male who caused the crash fled the scene on foot and was running across the tracks to a bar on First Street. He didn’t make it, a good Samaritan who saw the crash chased the male down tackling him,. After a brief struggle the Hispanic male was subdued until police arrived. He was promptly taken into custody.
MCHD called for an Air Medical Helicopter but later canceled it. The 21-year-old female passenger in the Expedition was pronounced dead on the scene. MCHD transported the male driver and his two very small children to Memorial Hermann in Houston, the male was pronounced dead on arrival. Both children are in stable condition and were in their car seats at the time of the crash.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office of Vehicular Crimes responded to the scene. A blood warrant was drawn up and blood was obtained from the Hispanic driver who they believe to be intoxicated.Charges are pending.
The northbound feeder reopened just after 2:30am and the freeway main lanes all cleared just after 1am.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was Brad Frazier, age 21. His wife Shea Frazier, age 21. Both are deceased. The children are stable , tow little girls one age 2, the other 5 weeks.
