EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Pct. 4 Deputy Constable J. Chapa and Pct. 4 K-9 Porter, along with other deputies from the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety in the discovery of a large amount of marijuana and the arrest of four men.
Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Trooper Martinez conducted a routine traffic stop on a Saturn sedan with four occupants, northbound on Hwy 59 north of FM 1314. Deputy Chapa and K-9 Porter responded to provide assistance. Porter gave a positive odor response at the rear of the vehicle where a search uncovered 7 lbs. of marijuana. Additional Pct. 4 deputies assisted in the investigation, arrest and transport of the four suspects.
Randal Ankenbauer, 19, of Clearwater Florida; Genaro Loa Rodriguez, Jr., 19, of New Caney; Phillip Eric Bonneau, 25, of Holiday, Florida; and Todd Joseph McGrath, 27, of New Caney were charged with third-degree felony Possession of Marijuana, more than 5 lbs./ less than 50 lbs.
Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden said he was pleased his deputies and K-9 unit were instrumental in the arrests.
“I’m thankful my office has a good working relationship with DPS and other area agencies,” Constable Hayden said. “We provide assistance when we’re able and the other agencies do the same for us.”
“We all have the same goal, which is to make East Montgomery County as safe as possible for people who live or visit here and also for those who are just passing through,” he said.
The four suspects were placed in holding cells at the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office in the East Montgomery County Annex in New Caney, then transported to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe.
