DPS Issues Blue Alert for Suspect in Police Chief Shooting

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a BLUE ALERT early Friday for 33-year-old Seth Altman, who allegedly shot the Memphis, Texas Police Chief. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday night at a home in Memphis, about 80 miles southeast of Amarillo, when law enforcement attempted to execute an arrest warrant on Altman for a burglary charge.

After allegedly shooting the Chief, Altman fled in an unknown direction. He’s 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs around 220 pounds with reddish brown hair and blue eyes. He was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt when he fled.

An air ambulance transported Police Chief Rex Plant to University Medical Center in Lubbock where he’s now reportedly in stable condition.

Seth Altman should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.
