Sunday mornings light rains caused slick roads and kept DPS busy with several serious accidents.
The first one happened at FM149 at Milllhouse in West Montgomery County.
A 15 passenger van owned by St. Pauls United Methodist Church from Houston and driven by Lisa Wilsford, 37, of Houston. The bus, returning from a weekend retreat was driving to fast for conditions. It left the roadway striking a tree and rolling over in the curve.
A total of 14 people were on the van. Most of them 14-16 years of age. Twelve of the victims were treated at the scene with nine being transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.
In another accident which occurred within feet of last weeks serious accident on FM 1485 near Firetower three vehicles were involved. According to Trooper Lopez, a Chevrolet Trailblazer was northbound on FM 1485 just south of Firetower when the driver, 36-year-old, Michele Ballinger of New Caney lost control on the rain slick curve.
Ballinger started to spin and was struck by a Ford Explorer, driven by Lisa Andrews, age 36, of Porter who was southbound. In addition a Ford Mustang, driven by Rebecca Williamson, age 21, of Conroe who was behind the Explorer also southbound struck the rear of the Trailblazer.
Ms. Ballinger was transported to Memorial Hermann Woodlands in stable condition. Ms. Williamson and Ms. Andrews were both transported to Kingwood Hospital in stable condition.
FM 1485 was closed to all traffic for almost an hour as the accident was investigated.
