MEDIA RELEASE:
Two suspects wanted for questioning in the murder of a Galena Park resident were arrested in Cameron County last night and transported to Wharton County by the Texas Rangers and Wharton Police Department Wednesday.
Heladio Rojas Perales, 35, of Galena Park, was found dead in his SUV Thanksgiving morning in Fort Bend County. Investigators believe he was killed at a residence in the city of Wharton earlier that week.
Monica Perez, 24, and Michael Moreno, 23, of Wharton were arrested crossing back into the U.S. at an international bridge in Brownsville last night. They were transported on a DPS airplane back to Wharton County this afternoon.
Perez and Moreno were arrested on charges of hindering apprehension and are being held in the Wharton County jail. A third suspect, identified as 21-year-old Ramon Vega of Wharton, is still at large. The arrests were the result of a joint investigation by the Texas Rangers and the Wharton Police Department.
