Trooper Jonathan McDonald stationed in Post, Texas was killed in a motor vehicle accident Monday night approximately 10:30p.m. Trooper McDonald was responding to a major accident approximately 2.5 miles south of Post on US 84 when he left the roadway and struck a culvert and burst into flames. Trooper McDonald, who was 26 years-of-age died on impact.
A DPS accident reconstruction team from Austin are on the scene investigating.
This is the second serious crash involving a Texas State Trooper in less than two months to be lost to traffic accidents.
In September DPS Corporal David Slaton struck a cow on US 81 and crossed into the on-coming lane striking an 18-wheeler head-on.
