A reported “drive by shooting” to the Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday night sent the victim, Robert Bradley Potetz, 27, of Raywood area to Herman Hospital in Houston by ground ambulance in unknown condition. Cpl. Kevin Theiss was advised by Liberty County EMS that it appears the victim had a fragment wound to the left side of his head and a gun shot wound to one hand. At this time, the wounds do not appear to be life threatening.
According to Sgt. Investigator Brian Bortz, who is conducting the follow up investigation, Potetz has been staying with his girl friend’s parents on FM 770 North in Raywood for about the last six weeks. Tonight, Robert Potetz drove to a store in the City of Liberty and upon returning home, had a tire problem with his truck. His girl friend’s mother called him on his cell phone and Potetz told her he was having a tire problem on the “loop” in Liberty but someone was there with him and helping with the problem so he would be home shortly.
Approximately twenty minutes later four gun shots were heard as Potetz pulled into his residence with the driver’s side window shot out and a bullet hole in his truck. According to Sgt. Bortz, Robert Potetz told his friends that “Phillip” had shot him but gave no further explanation as to the shooters identity or why he had been shot.
The investigation is continuing and Sgt. Bortz ask that if anyone has any information as to the circumstances of this alleged drive by shooting to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department at (936) 336-4500
