DRIVER CHARGED AS POSTAL WORKER KILLED IN CRASH

On October 18, 2025, Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 1 units were dispatched to a major crash at 11700 Antoine Drive. Deputies arrived on the scene and found a two-vehicle crash with serious bodily injury. Crash Investigators with the Vehicular Crimes Division were deployed to assume control of the investigation. It was determined that a silver Dodge Ram 2500 was being driven by Jose Humberto Romero south on Antoine Drive and struck the rear of a USPS mail delivery vehicle. The collision pushed the mail delivery vehicle into a tree. The driver of the USPS vehicle, Steven Marks, 48, was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from injuries related to the crash. Romero exhibited indicators of intoxication on the scene. Investigators administered SFSTs and determined that Romero was intoxicated. Jose Humberto Romero was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter. This case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
