Driver flown in critical condition

CUT AND SHOOT – Just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Montgomery County EMS and the Cut and Shoot Fire Department were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Lee Turner Rd., approximately on mile north of SH 105, within feet of the San Jacinto County line.

According to Trooper Lopez, the unidentified driver was northbound on Lee Turner when he ran off the edge of the road and overcorrected. The 1996 Chevy 4WD pickup hit a dirt embankment and began to flip, ejecting the driver, who landed about 50 feet from the truck. There were no other occupants. Medics worked for over 30 minutes to stabilize the man for transport to a hospital.

The intersection of SH 105 and Lee Turner was closed for almost an hour, as it became a landing zone for PHI Air Medical’s Med One helicopter. MCHD crews transported the victim by ground ambulance to the waiting helicopter, which transported the driver to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition, with a head injury.

As of 5 a.m., DPS had no update on the driver.
