DRIVER HITS CISD BUS TWICE

About 9:30 p.m. Friday night Caney Creek firefighters were dispatched to a reported school bus crash at Waukegan Road and FM 3083. When they arrived they found a CISD bus with moderate front end damage blocking the southbound lane of FM 3083. In addition was a KIA Spectra against the barbed wire fence with heavy damage to the driver side of the vehicle. The driver identified as Barbara Stowe was entrapped in the driver seat. Crews worked to remove the door to extricate her for transport to the hospital.

The driver of the school bus who was the lone occupant was a track coach at Caney Creek High School who was returning the bus to the bus barn after dropping students off from a meet. He was uninjured.

According to DPS Stowe was eastbound on Waukegan when she failed to stop for the stop sign and turned left onto FM 3083 in front of the school bus.

DPS also could not believe they were working the accident at the intersection with both Stowe and the bus involved.

On February 23, 2012 as a coach approached the intersection of Waukegan and FM 3083 heading for the bus barn he was involved in a crash.

In that crash Ms. Stowe once again ran the stop sign and struck the school bus.
