On Sunday, November 19, 2023 at approximately 7:47 am Officers with the Cleveland Police Department investigated a northbound major crash in the 700 block of U.S. Hwy. 59/ IH- 69 involving a 2022 Freightliner semi-truck hauling a box trailer and a 2012 Ford F-350 utility type-truck. The investigation reveals that the semi-truck and box trailer was stopped on the right shoulder out of the main traffic lanes and was struck from behind by the Ford F-350 truck. Both occupants of the Ford F-350 truck were ejected from their vehicle, and the driver was later pronounced deceased on scene by Ralph Fuller, Liberty County Justice of the Peace Precinct #6.
The driver of the F-350 has been identified as Jason Lee Emerick, age 46, of Hyndman, Pennsylvania. “The family of the deceased driver has been notified and our hearts go out to them”. According to Sgt. D. Edwards, the crash investigation is still ongoing.

On Sunday November 19, 2023 at approximately 7:47am the Cleveland Police and Fire Departments responded to a major crash in the 700 Blk of US Hwy 59/ IH 69 involving a 2022 Freightliner semi-truck hauling a box trailer and a 2012 Ford F-350 Utility truck. Investigators found that the semi-truck was stopped on the right shoulder out of the traffic lanes and was struck from behind by the Ford truck. Both occupants of the Ford were ejected from their vehicle and the driver of that vehicle was later pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller. The passenger and the driver for the semi-truck were transported to an area hospital by Allegiance EMS and, at this time, listed in stable condition.
Major Accident Investigators from the Cleveland Police Department are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
