About 1 am, Caney Creek Fire was dispatched to a reported auto vs horse crash on FM 1485 between FM 2090 and FM 3083. Units arrived to find an Uber driver injured. His vehicle had severe front-end damage. The Appalosa horse was severely injured with both severe head trauma and torso injuries. Deputies were forced to put it down. The driver was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Law enforcement contacted the pastor of the Caney Creek Cowboy Church. He arrived on the scene, but it wasn’t one of his horses. The driver who struck the horse said there were actually two. He believes he struck both, but the other ran off. After an extensive search of the area, the second horse could not be found. TXDOT was notified to remove the horse from the shoulder of the road. If anyone knows who the owners are, they are asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
