Just before 7 pm Caney Creek Fire was dispatched to a reported major accident on SH 242 just east of FM 1314 at the left turn lane to enter Mavera Subdivision. They arrived to find a Chevrolet pickup with heavy damage, however, the driver fled the scene. MCSO investigated the crash. The pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed traveling east on SH 242, THe truck entered the left turn lane but failed to negotiate the turn or stop for the stop sign. He continued eastbound hitting the curb and collapsing his right front suspension. He also hit the stop sign throwing it close to 100 feet into the median. The vehicle was removed by All Points Towing.
