Conroe Police Fatality Crash Reconstruction Team, along with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, began their investigation into the factors related to the traffic-related death. The initial investigation revealed that a marked Conroe Independent School District Police Unit was northbound, in the middle lane, preparing to turn west into the CISD Police Station parking lot. The motorcycle, observed to be overtaking witness vehicles, was southbound in the same area. According to preliminary investigation details, scene video, and witness accounts, as the CISD Patrol Unit turned westbound and began to pull into the parking lot, the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the police unit, causing the operator to be ejected. The CISD Officer immediately began lifesaving measures until relieved by other first responders. The injured officer was later transported to a local hospital and released after treatment and evaluation.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified as 24-year-old Patrick Freeland. Notification of next of kin was made by Conroe Police supervisors. The details of the crash are still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
The Conroe Police Department and Chief Buckholtz extend sincere condolences and prayers to all individuals involved in this tragic incident.
