At 1 am Monday morning, DPS and NMCFD received a call for a crash involving a pickup striking a dumpster at Pioneer at SH 105 East. Units arrived on the scene to find a white Chevrolet Silverado in the new construction area with very extensive damage. The vehicle struck a roll-off container that was almost completely full of broken concrete and rebar. NMC firefighters using JAWS to make access to the passenger compartment were amazed when they found no driver and no blood. They immediately started a search of the area. A drone was launched to assist the search. About two hours later, Troopers were able to confirm he left the scene but were unable to locate him. Several hours later, after extensive detective work, they located Jose Luis Aban-Bautista, age 37, of 602 Edgar in Conroe. After being transported for medical clearance, he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail charged with DWI.
