At approximately 9:55 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2107, 64-year-old James Hayden was riding a bicycle northbound on the shoulder of Veterans Memorial Drive (near South Camden Parkway).
An unknown vehicle failed to maintain a single lane of travel while traveling northbound.
The vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and struck the bicycle.
The driver fled the scene immediately following the crash and failed to stop to render aid or provide any information.
Mr. Hayden was transported to the Houston Northwest Hospital in critical condition and died from the injuries he sustained during this collision.
The suspect vehicle is described as a small four door sedan (possibly an older model Dodge Neon).
The color is described as a dark gray or tan and the front bumper being painted black.
The vehicle was described as having damage to the front right.
