At 10:30p.m. Tuesday Precinct 4 Deputy Chapa and his K-9 Porter were on routine patrol when they stopped a vehicle for speeding northbound on US 59 at SH242. After he pulled the vehicle over and talked with the driver he brought Porter out. Porter almost immediately detected something on the front fender of the vehicle. The suspect was detained and the vehicle was towed to the Precinct Garage where it could be searched in better lighting conditions.
Once again Porter detected something on the front fenders. Deputies removed the underside of the fender on both sides and confiscated a total of just over six pounds of marijuana.
In addition a pistol with several clips and over $600 in cash was recovered.
The driver Archie Dean Greene Jr. ,age 26 of 5600 Kyle in Alexandria, Louisiana was arrested for possession of marijuana over five pounds. He is being booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
