Last night, an officer observed a vehicle at the light on 1774 and Nichols Sawmill. The vehicle sat through a few light cycles, so the officer made contact and observed a male driver passed out. Another officer blocked the vehicle so that the driver couldn’t drive off after being awoken. After 11 cycles of the red light, officers were finally able to awaken the driver, and he immediately accelerated into the front of the officer’s vehicle. The driver continued to try and accelerate until the passenger window was broken and the driver was removed from the vehicle. Due to these obvious signs of intoxication, an investigation was completed, and the driver was arrested for DWI.
