A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office patrol car was struck by an intoxicated driver early Monday morning near the intersection of FM 1485 and Azalea Lane.
According to MCSO Patrol Captain Kenneth Ariola, the deputy was en route to assist with another call with lights and siren activated when he saw an SUV on the shoulder of the road with hazard lights flashing. As the deputy neared, the vehicle turned into the lane of traffic in the path of the patrol car. The officer swerved but was unable to avoid a collision.
Most of the damage to the patrol car was on the right front quarter panel and passenger side front door.
There were no injuries, but both vehicles were towed.
The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested the intoxicated driver, who had no insurance.
