DWI TASK FORCE TAKES SEVERAL DRUNK DRIVERS OFF THE ROAD

Just as the Ren-Fest was ending Saturday night Texas Department of Public Safety, Magnolia Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office started their day looking to make the roadways of west Montgomery County safer. As a joint effort they worked to get the drivers driving under the influence off the streets. Houston Police Department also provided a B.A.T. van for use along the roadway.

Andrew James with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said that up until midnight six people had been arrested for DWI. Magnolia Police Department was center for operations where a paramedic was on duty for blood draws if a driver refused  to submit a sample of his breath. A Montgomery County judge was also on duty to sign the search warrant for that blood.

Of the six that were arrested, two were DWI with a child under 15-years-old, a felony charge. Another had left a wedding party. In addition one was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest and another for possession.

According to James the NO REFUSAL will continue weekends through the rest of the year with concentration on the REN-Fest drivers until it’s season ends.
