At 8 a.m. Thanksgiving morning a Chevrolet Impala was north bound on FM 1010 in Plum Grove, Liberty County when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Plum Grove Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. When they arrived they discovered the front seat passenger trapped. A call was put in for Cleveland and Splendora to assist with the rescue and stabilizing the four occupants. Life Flight was dispatched from the Baytown base. Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Deputy McQueen and Splendora Fire Department assisted in setting up the landing zone on the FM 2090 bridge.
After almost 45 minutes the victim was freed. Both the female driver and front seat passenger were flown by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital in Houston. The 13-year-old boy and his mother, both of who were in the back seat were transported to Kingwood Hospital by Cleveland EMS and ESD 1.
The crash was investigated by DPs Trooper Cash who was not immediately able to identify the victims. He believes the driver of the vehicle may have fallen asleep at the wheel. No seat belts were worn in the vehicle.
