Just after 5:00a.m. Caney Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at Druid and Pinewood Village just off FM 1314 near San Jacinto School. The first units in were met by heavy fire from the abandon mobile home.
They called for additional help from River Plantation Fire Department and Needham Road Fire Department and requested New Caney Fire Department to back into one of their stations to cover the district should another call come in.
Met with not just the heat of the fire but the very high humidity in the pre-dawn hours took it’s toll as the firefighters, wearing close to 70 pounds of protective equipment fought the blaze.
The mobile home was abandon except for some of the owners property including ammunition stored in an attached building was destroyed. At time rounds could be heard cooking of in the intense heat.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal was called to investigate the fire. Just across the street sat another burned out mobile home structure the burned several months ago.
