Last Friday around 3:15 p.m., Conroe Police officers responded to a reported shooting at a convenience store located the 15000 block of I-45 South on the northbound feeder road. Upon arrival, officers, detectives, and crime scene investigators learned that an attempted burglary of a vehicle and possible aggravated assault with a vehicle resulted in a suspect being shot by a .45 caliber pistol.
Initial information indicated that a male parked his white van at a gas pump and walked inside the store to pay for gas. Upon exiting, the van owner observed a male, approximately 40-years-old, rummaging through the owner’s van. It is believed that the owner then confronted the burglar and the burglar drove his own vehicle toward the owner and attempted to strike him in the parking lot. The owner drew a handgun and struck the burglar’s and his vehicle. The vehicle then struck a pole in the parking lot and became lodged onto a pole.
The burglar was transported to the Conroe Regional Medical Center then Life Flighted to Ben Taub.
The condition of the alleged burglar is not known at this time. As the case is still under investigation, the name and descriptions of both persons involved have not been released.
Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office assisted Conroe Police in the investigation.
No charges have been filed at this time.
