Approximately 7:00pm Tuesday night Timber Lakes firefighters spotted some smoke just blocks from the station. They took the engine and attempted to locate the source of it. Just as they came down Glen Loch the dispatcher started toning fire departments for a reported structure fire on Glen Loch at Royal Oaks. Within seconds of the dispatch the engine that was attempting to locate the smoke pulled up in front of the brick structure with heavy fire coming out off the garage and heavy smoke from the roof and eaves. As they sprinted into action they were informed someone was still in the house.
Just inside the front door they located an elderly female said to be approximately 80 years old. She was suffering from severe burns on her upper torso. MCHD was immediately dispatched along with Life Flight for the Hooks Airport Tomball Base.
The female was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston in very critical condition according to the Montgomery County Assistant Fire Marshal.
The fire went to a second alarm bringing in Needham, Woodlands and South Montgomery County Fire Departments to assist Timber Lakes. Spring Fire Department was also requested to back in at the station to handle any additional calls that may come in.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshals office is continuing their investigation and will be returning in the morning.
The Home suffered heavy fire damage to the garage and two adjoining rooms including the attic. It also suffered heavy smoke and water damage throughout. Neighbors say the victim lived in the home alone and her husband had passed away several years ago.
