A pedestrian died overnight when he was struck by a car while crossing the road where there was not a designated crosswalk.
According to DPS, 31-year-old Stephen James Smith of Splendora was walking across FM 1488 east of Old Conroe Magnolia Road when he was struck by an eastbound 1999 Toyota sedan traveling in the inside lane. MCHD medics transported Smith to Conroe Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, 28-year-old Flora Idalia Reyes Argueta of Magnolia, was treated on the scene and released.
