EMCID Reaches Out to East County Residents

Since the recent election that saw an unprecedented four new board members voted into office, the East Montgomery County Improvement District is working to change more than the landscape.

At the July 10 meeting of the East Montgomery County Improvement District, the new Board appointed Director Brenda Webb as Chairman of the Board; Director Dale Martin as Vice Chair; Direct Stephen Carlisle as Board Secretary; and Director Scott Hesson as Board Treasurer.

Chairman Webb recently announced the EMCID Board approved the time change of the regular monthly meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the interest of easier accessibility and greater transparency.

“We’re hoping making the meetings an hour later will encourage more residents to attend,” Webb said. “People who work, and especially those who commute, will likely find it easier to fit the meetings into their schedules.”

“Those who care for children or elderly parents may also have a difficult schedule, and they deserve to be part of the process, if they so choose,” she said.

Secretary Carlisle said he believes the change will be a positive step toward better communication with the people EMCID serves.

“We are looking forward to improving the relationship EMCID has with the general public,” Carlisle said. “We want to encourage more people to become involved. We want their feedback, and we want an opportunity to respond to any questions or concerns they may have.”

The regular meetings will still be on the second Thursday of each month, and everyone is welcome.

The next meeting will be next Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the EMCID complex, located at 21575 Highway 59 N in New Caney.
