Employee shoots, kills man who allegedly attacked him at NW Harris County smoke shop, HCSO says

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at a smoke shop where an employee reportedly shot and killed a customer, deputies say.

Deputies were called to the 5000 block of W. FM 1960 in response to a disturbance at about 5 p.m. When they arrived, a man was found with several gunshot wounds.

According to officials, he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies learned an altercation between the man and an employee was caught on camera.

Officials said that the man was seen entering the business and began attacking the employee with a stick, who was there by himself, causing him to pull out a handgun and shoot the man multiple times.

Shortly after, the employee ran to a standalone ER unit, where the man follows him, causing the employee to fire twice again at the man.

According to officials, the man was a known individual to the smoke shop and frequently visited.

Officials said the employee may have broken an arm and sustained head injuries.

Deputies said no one else was injured in the shooting.

Police said there is a possibility that the man may have been homeless, but they have not received confirmation.

It is unknown whether charges will be filed as a grand jury will review the case.
