For this year’s Awareness Event, the Montgomery County Homeless Coalition is partnering with the Salvation Army in Conroe to feed those suffering from homelessness and poverty. Tuesday morning Coalition Members and several others served food at the Salvation Army in Conroe. Several local officials assisted in serving today including State Representative Will Metcalf, MCHD Board member Bob Bagley, MCSO Lt. Scott Spencer and Captain Carlisle.
After lunch was served a tour was given of the new facility across the street which will house programs to assist homeless and disadvantaged with working skills. Lone Star College will offer a culinary school at the facility also. It is expected to open in early 2018.
