EXCESSIVE SPEED AND NO SEAT BELT TAKES LIFE OF DRIVER

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at approximately 619 P.M., Dominick Williams was operating a 2019 Dodge Challenger, at a high rate of speed, in the 13400 block of Farm to Market Road 1960 East. Unit 1 passed to the left of an uninvolved vehicle, who was also traveling eastbound. As the Challenger re-entered the westbound lane, the Challenger failed to drive in a single lane, and began to travel northwest across the improved shoulder before striking a metal end terminal guard rail. The impact caused the Challenger to rotate counter-clockwise while continuing to travel west across a grass ditch north of the roadway. The Challenger struck a grass embankment, causing it to go airborne while continuing to rotate counter-clockwise. It then struck a wood utility pole, causing it to rotate clockwise while rolling onto its right side. During the impact with the wood utility pole, Mr. Williams, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle. The Challenger continued to travel west in a grass field north of the roadway while rotating clockwise on its right side. Mr. Williams was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased due to injuries he sustained in the crash. The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
