explosion turns to 2 alarm fire in grocevile

At 6:20p.m. Cut and Shoot Fire Department was dispatched to an explosion in a steel building on Jeanette Lane near Miller in the Groceville Community. The person reporting the fire told dispatchers and elderly man lived there and may have been in the building as they didn’t see anyone exit.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they had heavy smoke conditions from a large metal structure. Once they were able to gain entry they were met by heavy fire conditions in the building used as a machine shop and workshop for a retired machinist.

A second alarm was called for bringing North Montgomery County and Caney Creek Fire Departments. Firefighters worked over two hours in the heat to totally extinguish the blaze.

The Montgomery Assistant Fire Marshal responded to the scene and has started investigating the cause,

There were no injuries.
