FATAL ACCIDENT ON HONEA EGYPT

Honea Egypt Road at Crown Oaks reopened at 4:15 p.m. following a fatal accident this afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m., a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was southbound on Honea Egypt at a high rate of speed. As as Richard Scott Goers, 44, of Montgomery approached theĀ 90 degree left curve just past Crown Oaks, he attempted to brake unsuccessfully, running off the road, through a wire fence breaking off one of the posts and uprooting another.

Montgomery County EMS arrived on the scene to find the victim’s heart had stopped.
He was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to Trooper Alders, the odor of alcohol was detected on his breath and a 12 ounce can of beer was found on his person. In addition hospital personnel did find two small plastic bags of marijuana was also found on his person.

Tommy’s Wrecker removed the motorcycle from the scene.
