Just after 10pm Saturday night a Montgomery County EMS unit was traveling north on FM 1314 when they were flagged down just north of Bert Brown Road in Conroe. Multiple vehicles had stopped for a male which had been struck by several vehicles. THe male was deceased. WIth DPS units being assigned to the border, assisting Austin Police, and Security at the State Capital along with units working the Plum Grove area, no Troopers were available. In Montgomery County DPS works almost all fatal crashes. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was tasked with investigating the fatality. Being a very complex scene detectives were called out to assist the Traffic Units. A Ford Expedition had been southbound on FM 1314 when the female driver struck the male. Just behind her was a charter bus with cheerleaders returning to New Caney the UCA Regional Competition in Lewisville, Texas. THe bus was able to stop about one-half mile south while the Expedition stopped within a few hundred yards. THere were no injuries in the vehicles. New Caney ISD officials responded to the scene to transport the cheerleaders back to New Caney. THe road remained closed until 5am. Eickenhorst Funeral Directors transported the yet unidentified male who appeared homeless to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
