FATAL CRASH CLOSES SH 105 BEFORE IT REOPENS FROM AN EARLIER CRASH

Close to 7 am Tuesday morning SH 105 east was closed due to a head-on crash. It was minutes before noon when troopers concluded the investigation and were about to reopen it. It was then a 70-year-old Mississippi truck driver who was hauling a FEMA trailer from Monroe, Louisiana to Hearne, Texas and had been stuck for hours in the traffic. The driver exited the truck to walk across the street to Gilberts Water Well at Magnolia and SH 105 East and ask permission to back into his large lot to turn around. According to a witness who had been acting as the escort for the trucker, the trucker was walking down the center line when a female driving east on SH 105 slammed into the driver. THe driver struck her windshield before hitting the road. NMCFD and MCHD responded to the scene. The driver was rushed to Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands where he was pronounced deceased. SH 105 was closed until just after 2pm. THe investigation continues.
