Just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon Terrence McCarthy, 55, of Conroe was pulling out of the McDonalds on West Davis just east of Interstate 45 in a Toyota Prius. Another vehicle which was eastbound on West Davis was turning into McDonalds. McCarthy accelerated and entered the roadway turning westbound. At that same moment Bridget Baird38, of Conroe was eastbound in a Ford F-250 in the center lane. McCarthy, turned directly in front of the Ford which struck the drivers door of McCarthy’s vehicle killing him instantly.
Baird was not injured in the crash.
According to Conroe police speed or alcohol; were not a factor in this crash.
Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Lanny Moriarty pronounced McCarthy dead at the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport McCarty to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
All lanes were reopened just before 5 p.m.. During the investigation traffic was extremely light in both directions. The only interruptions officer had during the investigation was motorists attempting to drive around the emergency vehicles on the wrong side f the road to get to private driveways that were not blocked to other traffic flowing the proper direction.
