At 10:48 a.m. Wednesday a call came in to 911 reporting a major accident on FM 1774 at the Waller/Montgomery County line. Dispatchers told responding units that a single vehicle had rolled multiple times into the trees and they were unable to access the patient and believed he was dead.

Magnolia Fire Department arrived at the scene and had to remove a rear passenger door to access the driver who ended up in the back seat.

DPS Trooper Torres who investigating the crash said the 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer was south bound at an unsafe speed on FM 1774. As he came across the county line and entered the curve he ran off to the right side of the road. The driver continued down the right shoulder before coming back across FM 1774 striking a memorial marker from a previous crash and flipping several times.

The elderly male was pronounced dead on the scene by Montgomery County Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Matt Masden. He ordered the victim be taken Eickenhorst Funeral Directors  to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy,

The driver was identified as Ralph Bascom Hammer, age 70, of Tomball.

This location has been the scene of at least four fatal crashes over the past few years
