At 11:35 a.m. on Monday DPS troopers in Walker County were dispatched to a fatal crash on SH 19 just outside Riverside. A 2014 Kenworth truck and trailer driven by Andrew Curt Muse, 23, of Patison, Texas was traveling northbound on SH 19.
A 2013 Ford Taurus driven by Robert Kirk Owens, 43 of Nacogdoches was southbound on SH 19 when he lost control on the wet roads slamming into the 18-wheeler. A passenger in the Taurus, Courtney Todd Allen, 48, also of Nacogdoches was injured and transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Owens was pronounced dead on the scene by Walker County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 , Mark Holt. He ordered Sam Houston Funeral Home to remove the victim from the scene.
Muse was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
DPS Trooper Simental investigated the crash with the assistance of Trooper Barnes and Trooper Brockman.
Huntsville and Riverside Fire Departments responded to the scene.
