1115pm-Just after 6:30pm, a Conroe Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle at North Frazier and Hickerson for an expired motor vehicle registration. The driver fled and a pursuit ensued. Speeds reached 105 miles per hour as they traveled north on Frazier. The vehicle ran the red light at FM 830 and continued north. The Conroe Officer had to slow for traffic in the intersection. As he traveled north he found the vehicle had crashed into the Southern Tire sign. Security video from the scene shows the driver attempted to go around another vehicle and lost control hitting the signpost which was approximately 3-feet in diameter. Conroe Fire and North Montgomery Fire both responded to the scene. The driver was pronounced deceased at 6:46 pm. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack responded to the scene to perform the inquest. He ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy and positive identification. Additional details later tonight. Highway 75 remains closed between Willis and FM 830 as the investigation continues.
