A little after 2pm Wednesday Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a male down who was believed to have been shot on FM 2090 between Firetower and Crockett Martin Road. MCSO arrived on the scene to find a male on his bicycle in his late 40s who had been struck by a vehicle. He was deceased. DPS responded to the scene. A male and his wife had been driving west on FM 2090 in a Dodge pickup pulling a cargo trailer when he looked in his mirror and saw the male on the ground as he passed. Believing that he had struck him he pulled over to the side of the road. Troopers viewed the truck and trailer and were unable to find any evidence on the scene of the truck or trailer striking it. The 10-speed bike he was on suffered extensive damage. A witness also sai he had a small brown dog on a leach running next to him. Animal Control and first responders searched for the dog but could not locate the small brown dog. The deceased male lives in the area and has often been seen riding his bike with his dog running alongside him. The driver of the truck was arrested on unrelated charges at this time. DPS is asking for any witnesses who may have seen what happened to contact the DPS New Caney Office. FM 2090 remained open as MCSO directed traffic alternating the eastbound lane. Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The truck and trailer were towed from the scene by Milstead Wrecker. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit is assisting DPS in the investigation.
