Fatal crash on I-45 S.

WILLIS- A 19-year-old Willis man was killed around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on the Interstate 45 feeder road, south of FM 1097 when his car struck a parked 18-wheeler.
Police say the teen lost control of his 2005 Honda Accord for unknown reasons, causing it to go onto the shoulder in a sideways skid and struck a parked Grocer’s Supply 18-wheeler.

The victim was already deceased when emergency crews and law enforcement arrived, and the North Montgomery County Fire Department spent upwards of 45 minutes extricating him from the twisted wreckage.

The crash occurred in front of a Best Western Motel where the big rig’s driver was staying the night. One officer noted that there were no cones behind the parked truck.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Lanny Moriarty conducted and inquest and had the body taken to the Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Conroe for an autopsy.

The name remained withheld late Wednesday. Willis Police officials said one of the victim’s parents had not been notified.
