A multi-vehicle crash that killed one person shut down SH 249 in Grimes County for several hours Thursday. Around 9:50 a.m., a 2000 International 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on SH 249, and 2021 Ford F250 was traveling northbound, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Ford drove onto the wrong side of the road and struck the 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler then veered into the northbound lanes and struck a 2020 BMW X5 head-on. The highway was closed from TX 105 to CR 304 for an extended period of time while DPS investigated.    The driver of the BMW, Sydney Arthur, 22, of Navasota was killed in the crash. The driver of the 18-wheeler had minor injuries and was taken to Tomball Regional. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
