US 59 (I-69) has just reopened north of Splendora after a 64-year-old woman who was northbound ran off to the shoulder for yet unknown reasons. An 18-wheeler was on the side of the road waiting for a service truck due to a rock hitting and shattering his rear window. The driver of the tanker which was empty had already set not just emergency triangles up but also cones were visibly shaken by the scene. The Dodge pickup which had been northbound on I-69 struck the right rear of the tanker with her left front.
Judge James Metts pronounced the woman dead on the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the female to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
Humble Wrecker Service had to use a dolly to haul the trailer since the rear axles were damaged.
