FATAL SCHOOL BUS CRASH

Just after 8:30p.m. Tuesday evening a Crosby School bus was returning from a ninth grade girls basketball tournament in Liberty. The bus was southbound on FM 2100 about four miles south of FM 1960 when it was struck head-on.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Department  a mid-age Hispanic male was northbound on 2100 just over sixty miles per hour when he came up on a red mustang also northbound turning left onto Tall Cedars. Unable to stop the Ford Explorer swerved to the left around the Mustang hitting the bus head-on.

The driver of the Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 79-year old bus driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Nine of the girls were transported along with the coach and her 2-year-old child.

Local ambulances from Crosby, Houston, Atascocita , ESD1 and Cypress Creek EMS transported a total of eleven patients with non-life threatening injuries to East Houston Hospital, Houston Northeast and San Jacinto Medical Center.

FM 2100 remains closed as 1:30am as Harris County Accident Investigators continue their investigation.
