(Bryan, TX) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI Bryan Resident Agency (RA) have released a new facial reconstruction image in the 2016 death of a child known only as “Baby Madison”. Investigators are asking anyone who may know the child’s identity to please contact law enforcement.
On September 17, 2016, the skeletal remains of an unidentified child were found off Interstate 45 near Madison, Texas, located about 38 miles northeast of Bryan and 95 miles north of Houston. The remains had been wrapped in a white trash bag and placed inside a black suitcase.
Forensic tests later confirmed the remains belonged to that of a little girl between two and five years old. She was wearing a size 4T long-sleeve pink dress from the brand “Mon Petit” with butterflies that read “Follow Your Dreams”. She was also wearing a size 4 diaper. “Baby Madison” was also found with a feeding tube and likely required specialized medical care during her short life.
It was originally believed “Baby Madison’s” lower jaw was smaller than normal, a medical condition known as micrognathia. However, the facial reconstruction image generated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has been updated after additional forensic professionals examined the remains. Based on the new forensic assessments and additional investigative efforts that have been completed over the years, it is now believed that the child did not suffer from micrognathia.
“Baby Madison” may have ancestral ties to El Salvador and Nuevo Leon, Mexico according to genetic testing results. She also had long, thick black hair.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Bryan ask the public to take a good look at the updated facial reconstruction image. Anyone who has information about who “Baby Madison” may be and/or who may have disposed of her body along I-45 around the summer of 2016 should immediately call the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 348-2755 ext. 322.
The FBI Bryan RA is assisting in this case by providing investigative and analytical assets and resources to the Madison County S.O.
