Just after 2:30pm Conroe Police were dispatched to a major accident on FM 3083 just west of IH-45. Conroe Fire Department and MCHD responded as well. When they arrived they found a green 2000 Grand Prix in the ditch on the south side of the road and a silver 2006 Nissan Pathfinder on the shoulder of the south side of the road.
The Grand Prix driven by Jesie Gilliam, age 62 of New Waverly sustained heavy damage to the driver side of the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the Pathfinder, Corinne Wyatte, age 51 of Conroe was taken by MCHD to Herman Hospital in the Woodlands in stable condition. That vehicle suffered severe front end damage.
The CORT unit was dispatched to the scene to investigate the accident. Lt. Jon Buckholtz who investigated the accident explained the 2006 Nissan was westbound on FM 3083 and the Grand Prix was pulling out of the J.C. Penney parking lot and attempting to turn left toward the freeway. Failing to Yield Right of Way to the Nissan the Grand Prix was struck in the drivers door.
