Fire Alert: It’s ANOTHER USFS Controlled Burn! DO NOT REPORT THIS FIRE!!!

SAN JACINTO COUNTY, TX- Today, (Wednesday, April 17) the US Forest Service will conduct a controlled burn in the Sam Houston National Forest in San Jacinto County, beginning at 12 p.m. and estimated to end around 5 p.m.

Smoke may be visible or even heavy in areas that are not in any danger. The US Forest Service will be on location, intentionally burning and will not let it get out of control and spread to private property.

The operation targets 139 acres, FS 256: Richards Road and FM 945 (just south of FM 945 and Butch Arthur Road intersection) Compartment #96. The wind is expected to be out of the south, making smoke visible in the area of FM 945 and SH 150.

People with good intentions often see heavy smoke and report these fires, clogging up the 911 system and sometimes wasting the time and gas of fire departments and taking them from their posts where they may be needed for a legitimate emergency.
