About 12:15 Saturday afternoon three friends from Houston were unloading their twenty-one foot Bowrider at the April Plaza Marina when they noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. Before they could locate their fire extinguisher it was totally involved. The three jumped into the shallow water to safety.
Lake Conroe Fire Department responded with an engine and fireboat. They were able to bring it quickly under control.
There were no injuries or damage to the surrounding area.
Montgomery County Precinct 1 Lt. Cade who responded to the scene is investigating. He reminds boaters to have a fire extinguisher readily available on your boat.
