Neighbors noticed and reported the fire around 8:45 p.m. The victim’s 16-year-old son was visiting those neighbors at the time. The teen repeatedly tried to reach his mother, but was unable to reach her because of the intensity of the fire.

The Magnolia Fire Department responded first and found heavy fire. They were joined by the Tomball Fire Department and the flames were quickly extinguished.

Firefighters found the woman in her bed.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded, along with a Stagecoach Police Department patrol unit, who remained until the scene was cleared.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
