Fire Guts Condos in Lake Conroe Area

MONTGMERY COUNTY, TX- Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters with the Montgomery Fire Department (Montgomery County ESD 2) responded to reports of a fire at a residential building in the on Poe Drive, in the Walden Community near Lake Conroe. Crews from Station 54 in Walden swiftly arrived and reported visible fire and heavy smokeĀ  from a condominium complex in the 3200 block of Poe Drive.

One victim was treated for smoke inhalation and Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) EMS transported the victim by ambulance to an area hospital. Initial information suggests the injured person may have been a construction worker; however, that information has not been confirmed, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.

Additional firefighting resources responded on the initial alarm from Montgomery County ESD 2 and the City of Conroe. A second alarm was requested shortly after, bringing in additional crews from Montgomery County ESD 3, along with more units from MCESD 2 and the City of Conroe. Fire suppression and overhaul operations were ongoing as of 4 p.m.

Investigators with the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office are enroute to both the fire scene and the hospital and will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
