FIRE IN MAGNOLIA LEAVES 14 HORSES DEAD

Approximately 6 a.m. this morning Magnolia Fire Department responded to a barn fire at Superior Road and FM 1488. When they arrived they found a barn almost the size of a football field totally involved. Additional help was called from Needham Road Fire Department and Woodlands Fire Department.

It took several hours to bring it under control but the end results were devastating. The barn housed 28 horses, fourteen escaped, 14 others were burned. The stable, Goslin Nix Stables housed expensive Arabian horses. The value of the horses could get over a half-million dollars.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal is on the scene investigating the cause. of the fire.
